Crying Baby – Why?

Crying is a part of the lives of all babes.When a baby comes out of the woomb. The 1st thing to do is crying.By the 1st cry the babies will take some air in to the lungs for the 1st time in their life. If the baby doesn't cry then it should be initiated by slightly pinching or gently stroking the feet. So it is clear that the healthy baby should cry and it is a normal physical event ,still some of the times it can upset the mother or family members.

We all know that a babe can not tell his needs or troubles in words. The crying is only way for him to communicate with others. Babies show another signs like feet kicking,hand waving and head turning etc.Of course the best way to take the attention of others is by crying.

Excessive crying may not have a fixed definition because the crying habit is different from baby to baby. Some babies can be calmed easily but some are difficult to sooth.If crying is distressing for the mother and family members, it can be called excessive.The most of baby become quiet by giving breast milk or by carrying with a gentle rocking.Sudden onset of excessive crying means baby is distressed and needs attention.The causes of crying extends from simple reasons to dangerous conditions.therefore crying of a baby should not be ignored.

Most of the clock time it is difficult to detect the cause of the cry .General causes are discussed here for knowingness.

The most common reasons for crying:

- Hunger:
A hungry babe will cry till he gets the milk. Here the old saying comes true'crying baby gets the milk'.

- Company:
Absolute majority of the kids need someone near. If they feel lonely they cry.When their favourite doll slips away from the grip they cry for help.

- Wetting:
Urination and defecation causes some uncomfortableness and results in crying till his parts are cleaned and made dry .

- Heat & cold:
If they feel too hot or too cold they become restless and cry. Child is comfortable in a room with good airing.

- Tired:
When the baby is tired after a playing and not able to sleep just cry only.They feel tired in uncomfortable sourroundings and due to unhealthy climate.

- Tight cloathing:
Tight cloaths specially during warm climate is intolerable for kids.Tight elastic of the the dress can also produce discomfort in the hip region.

- Mosquito:
Yes,these animals disturb the sleep by their blood sucking and make the baby cry.

- Dark room:
When the babe wakes up from sleep he needs some dim light.If there is darkness he will disturb the sleep of parents by crying.Of course he will be irritated by strong light resulting in cry.

- Nasal blocking:
Child may unable to sleep when there has cold and go on crying till the passage is open.

- Habitual cry:
Some babies cry with no real cause ending the parents in agony.a lot of times doctor is called for help.

- Phlegm in throat:
This also causes difficult breathing resulting in cry.Often a typical sound can be heard with each breath.

- Earache
- Colic:
When the baby cry continuously most of us diagnose it as colic.This problem is still a topic for debate because exact cause for colic isn't known and diagnosis is also hard to confirm.Colic perhaps associated with rumbling and distention of abdomen.Child often feels better when lying on abdomen.Some children may not allow you to touch the abdomen.If the child cries continuously doctors help is needed.

- Infections:
All infections causes some sort of pain or irritation resulting in cry.Infection possibly anywhere in the body.Usually it is associated with fever, redness and swelling.

- Reactions to certain food:
It is said that one man's food is another man's poison. Some food articles can produce some allergic reactions.Allergy is manifested in the form of redness, breathlessness,gastric symptons and continuous cry.

- Hard stools:
Constipated babies with hard stools may cry when they get the urge for stool.Some children hesitate to pass stool because of pain .

- Gastro esophagial reflex:
Here baby cries with spilling of food after feeding.If this continues it may be due to gastroesophageal reflex.This is due to failure of the lower part of esophagus to close after food causing regurgitation from the stomach.it's difficult to diagnose this condition and can be confirmed by giving antireflex medicines.

- Dentition:
During dentition growing baby becomes restless with crying.Often associated with gastric troubles and diarrhoea.

So don't panic if your baby cries because crying is the way of communicates. Try to comprehend meaning of every baby crying by knowing at their reason.

Acne, Causes and Prevention

Acne is a skin disease - an inflammation of the sebaceous glands that secrete a greasy, fatty material.

The fatty material accumulates in a hair follicle and excretory duct forming a blackhead, usually on the face, neck, chest and back.

Acne is often referred to as simply pimples.

Causes:

The primary cause is toxaemia that originates in checked elimination of toxic wastes.

Secondary causes may be:
* Genetic factors (family members have bad acne)
• Indigestion coupled with constipation.
• The consumption of unsuitable foods, especially carbohydrates and sugars, biscuits, cakes and pastries.
• Overeating.
* Psychological stress and depression
• Too many meals.
• Eating between meals.
• The drinking of alcohol, tea, coffee, cocoa and soft drinks.
• Smoking tobacco.
• Taking drugs.
• Wearing excessively heavy clothing.
• Neglect of personal hygiene.
• In some occupations dirt and grease accumulate on the skin and these accumulations are not thoroughly and regularly removed.

Treatments:

The customary medical treatment is to apply a local application of medicated skin lotions - which are usually suppressive in effort and do not remove the basic causes of this complaint.
The material being suppressed invariably tries to find an outlet somewhere else or if that is not possible it may be laid down in joints, muscles or organs where it can cause a quite different and more serious complaint, the cause of which might remain unsuspected.

The Natural treatment, as would be expected - consists of removing the primary cause first of all:

• Eliminate all unwholesome foods and non-foods.
• Institute a standard natural diet consisting mainly of raw fruits and vegetables with small amounts of starch and protein.

Attend to personal hygiene by:

• Dry-friction skin brushing before regular bathing.
• Discard excessive clothing in favor of light clothing.
• In many cases a vapor bath of about 10 minutes duration followed by a full-body pack of 20 minutes duration twice a week would assist in cleansing the hair follicles and excretory ducts in the skin and thus expedites the treatment.
• Sunbaths and air-baths are beneficial.
• Plenty of exercise to encourage profuse perspiration also helps.
• In extreme cases where acne has been present over a long period and has resisted all efforts to eradicate it - there could be spinal subluxations in the lower thoracic area. If these are found, they should be adjusted using chiropractic, osteopathy or naprapathy.

Smoking and It’s Effects

Stop Smoking

Stop Smoking

Why stop smoking ?

Smokers need support from the social. Stop smoking, no doubt, needs determination, commitment and desire. But the knowledge of more and more with the preparations and options may also be effective ways to quit smoking. Smokers need a plan that the slow reduction of smoking in the smoking process, which includes different needs.

Smoking seems so difficult. This is not an easy task, a habit of life, to eliminate once part of life. That is why we need a firm decision to take the stop before the application in different ways to smoke.

Most people know that smoking can cause health problems such as lung cancer. And not only you but also for the people around you. Smoking kills over 114,000 people in the UK each year.

How smoking causes health problems?

Cigarettes contain over 4,000 chemicals and at least 400 toxic substances. When you inhale, a cigarette burns at 700 ° C at the top and around 60 ° C in the core. This heat breaks the tobacco to produce various toxins. As a cigarette burns, the residues are concentrated towards the butt.

The most harmful products are:

  • Nicotine is addictive and increases cholesterol levels in the body
  • Tar, a carcinogen (substance that cancer)
  • Carbon monoxide, oxygen in the body
  • Phase components of gas and particles cause of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).

The damage caused by smoking is influenced by:

  • The number of cigarettes smoked
  • The tobacco produced.
  • Whether the cigarette has a filter

Hurting Others

Smoking damages not only the smoker but also family members, colleagues and others who breathe the smoke of the cigarette smoker, called secondhand smoke or passive smoking. In infants up to age 18 months, secondhand smoke is associated with no fewer than 300,000 cases of bronchitis and pneumonia each year. In addition, increased secondhand cigarette smoke from a parent a child's chances for middle ear problems, causes coughing and wheezing, worsens asthma, and increases the risk that a child died of sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS).

Exposure to environmental tobacco smoke can also cause cancer. Research has shown that non-smokers who live with a smoker cancer by 24% increased risk of lung cancer compared to other smokers. About 3,000 deaths from lung cancer occur each year in the United States, which are caused by passive smoking. Secondhand smoke increases the risk of stroke and heart disease. If both parents smoke, smoking, a teenager is more than twice as high as for young people whose parents are both nonsmokers. Selbst in Haushalten, in denen nur ein Elternteil raucht, sind junge Menschen eher mit dem Rauchen zu beginnen. Pregnant women who smoke are more likely in babies whose weights are too low to deliver healthy babies. In fact, it was estimated that if all women quit smoking during pregnancy, about 4,000 children die each year

Breastfeeding, How To?

From the 1st moment the baby is applied to the breast, it must be nursed upon a certain plan. This is essential to the well-doing of the baby, and will contribute basically to keep the wellness of the parent, who will thus be rendered a good nurse, and her duty at as is time will become a pleasure.

This implies, however, a careful attention to the mother health; for that of her child is basically dependent upon it. Healthy, digestible milk, and nourishing can be procured only from a healthy parent; and it is against common sense to expect that, if a mother impairs her digestion and health by improper diet, neglect of exercise, and impure air, she can, nevertheless, provide as wholesome and uncontaminated a fluid for her child, as if she were diligently attentive to these important points.

Every instance of indisposition in the nurse is liable to affect the baby. it is a common mistake to suppose that, because a woman is nursing, she ought therefore to live very fully, and to add an allowance of wine, porter, or other fermented liquor, to her usual diet. The only result of this plan is, to cause an unnatural degree of fulness in the system, which places the nurse on the brink of disease, and which of itself frequently puts a stop to the secretion of the milk, instead of increasing it. The right plan of proceeding is plain enough; only let attention be paid to the ordinary laws of health, and the mother, if she have a sound constitution, will make a better nurse than by any foolish deviation founded on ignorance and caprice.

The following case proves the correctness of this statement:

A young woman, confined with her first child, left the lying-in room at the expiration of the third week, a good nurse, and in perfect health. She had had some slight trouble with her teats, but this was soon overcome.

The porter system was now commenced, and from a pint to a pint and a half of this beverage was absorbed the four and twenty hours. This was resorted to, not because there was any deficiency in the supply of milk, for it was ample, and the baby thriving upon it; but because, having become a nurse, she was told that it was usual and necessary, and that without it her milk and strength would ere long fail.

After this plan had been followed for a few days, the mother became drowsy and disposed to sleep late the daytime; and headach, thirst, a hot skin, as a matter of fact, fever supervened; the milk diminished in quantity, and, for the first time, the stomach and bowels of the infant became disordered. The porter was ordered to be left off; remedial measures were prescribed; and all symptoms, both in parent and child, were after a while removed, and health restored.

Having been accustomed, before becoming a mother, to take a glass or 2 of wine, and occasionally a tumbler of table beer, she was advised to follow precisely her former dietetic plan, but with the addition of half a pint of barley-milk morning and night. Both parent and child continued in excellent health during the remaining period of suckling, and the latter didn't taste artificial food until the ninth month, the parent’s milk being all-sufficient for its wants.

No one can doubt that the porter was in this case the source of the mischief. The patient had gone into the lying-in-room fully health, had had a good time, and came out from her chamber (comparatively) as strong as she entered it. Her constitution had not been previously worn down by repeated child-bearing and nursing, she had an ample supply of milk, and was fully capable, therefore, of performing the duties which now devolved upon her, without resorting to any unusual stimulant or support. Her previous habits were totally at variance with the plan which was adopted; her system became too full, disease was produced, and the result experienced was nothing more than what might be expected.

The plan to be followed for the first six months. Until the breast- milk is fully established, which may not be until the second or third day subsequent to delivery (almost invariably so in a first confinement), the infant must be fed upon a little thin gruel, or upon one third water and two thirds milk, sweetened with loaf sugar.

After this time it must obtain its nourishment from the breast alone, and for a week or ten days the appetite of the infant must be the mother’s guide, as to the frequency in offering the breast. The stomach at birth is feeble, and as yet unaccustomed to food; its wants, therefore, are easily satisfied, but they are frequently renewed. An interval, however, sufficient for digesting the little swallowed, is obtained before the appetite again revives, and a fresh supply is demanded.

At the expiration of a week or so it is essentially necessary, and with some children this maybe done with safety from the first day of suckling, to nurse the infant at regular intervals of three or four hours, nonstop. This allows sufficient time for each meal to be digested, and tends to keep the bowels of the child called for. Such regularity, moreover, will do much to obviate fretfulness, and that constant cry, which seems as if it could be allayed only by constantly putting the child to the breast. A young mother very frequently runs into a serious error in this particular, considering every expression of uneasiness as an indication of appetite, and whenever the infant cries offering it the breast, although ten minutes may not have elapsed since its last meal. This is an injurious and even dangerous practice, for, by overloading the stomach, the food remains undigested, the child’s bowels are always out of order, it soon becomes restless and feverish, and is, perhaps, eventually lost; when, by simply attending to the above rules of nursing, the infant might have become healthy and vigorous.

For the same reason, the baby that sleeps with its parent must not be allowed to have the nipple remaining in its mouth all night. If nursed as suggested, it will be found to awaken, as the hour for its meal approaches, with great regularity. In regard to night-nursing, I'd advise suckling the babe as late as 10 o’clock p. m., and not putting it to the breast again until five o’clock the next morning. Many mothers have adopted this hint, with great advantage to their own health, and without the slightest detriment to that of the child. With the latter it soon becomes a habit; to induce it, however, it must be taught early.

The foregoing plan, and without variation, must be pursued to the 6th month.

After the sixth month to the time of weaning, if the parent has a large supply of good and nourishing milk, and her child is healthy and evidently growing upon it, no change in its diet ought to be made. If otherwise, however, (and this will but too frequently be the case, even before the 6th month) the child perhaps fed twice in the course of the day, and that sort of food chosen which, after a little trial, is found to agree best.

Acne and What to Do About It

When oil and bacteria and clog pores of the skin, the result is acne vulgaris, more usually referred to as, acne. It's characterized by eruptions of skin such as pimples,blackheads, whiteheads. Acne can also cause skin discolorations and painful cysts that are tend to leaving permanent scars if critical cases of acne are ignored. Acne Often caused by hormonal changes, which can appear on face, neck, chest or back.

Acne is a skin condition or a common skin disease. It is characterised by red pimples on the face, chest, and back, and is caused by the inflammation of sebaceous glands through bacterial infection. It occurs when the pores of the skin become clogged with oil, dead skin cells, and bacteria.

It affects closely 17 million people in the United States America While acne can arise at any age, it usually begins at puberty and worsens during adolescence. Nearly 85% of people develop acne at some time between the ages of 12-25 years. Up to 20% of women develop mild acne. It is also found in some newborns.

Knowing how acne appears is one key, which opens the secrets of acne's cure. Teenagers are the most general group plagued by acne referable a change in glandular or hormonal activity experienced on puberty. Amounts of oil (sebum), accumulate on surface of the skin, while closing up pores of the skin, the reaction is 1 or more pimples that form on the skin.

The exact cause of acne is unknown. However, some other factors contribute to developing acne :

* Hormonal changes

* Dietary deficiencies

* Drugs.

* Personal hygiene.

* Cosmetics

* Environment

* Constipation

* Stress

* Anemia

*Menstrual cycles (irregular)

* Allergies

While teenagers are affected by acne in disproportional amounts, adult women also tend to experience mild to moderate cases of acne just prior to their monthly menstrual cycles in which hormonal changes are also to blame. Acne can also happen in families, though this is more probable due to the consumption of certain dietary choices, such as oily, chocolate,fatty foods, which can each trigger symptoms of acne.

Preventative measures are the most helpful in combating acne. By maintaining clean skin and avoiding oily skincare and haircare products that increase the amount of oil on the skin, clog pores, and cause acne, people who are prone to acne can avoid frequent eruptions. Washing skin two to 3 times each day with a mild cleanser and only applying products that are labeled noncomodogenic helps in keeping acne symptoms at bay. Everyone, but particularly those who are prone to acne outbreaks should thoroughly remove all makeup before bedding at night, should drink plenty of water throughout the day, and should avoid carbonated and sugary drinks. Also, fried foods, foods high in saturated fats, fast food, processed foods, alcohol and cigarette smoke should be avoided, as each is known to contribute to the onset of acne symptoms.

As annoying as a case of acne can be, a person with this condition should never pick their pimples even when they are at painful stages. Picking at them can cause the skin to become infected and can cause permanent marks or scarring to occur. Instead, acne creams that are commonly sold over the counter containing salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide can be applied to clean skin to assist in halting outbreaks and in reducing the amount of pimples that appear on the skin. Of course, different skin types respond differently to these products. Therefore, if irritation occurs or if symptoms persist, people with acne are advised to stop using that particular product and find another that's more suitable to their particular skin type.

In severe cases, it may be necessary for a dermatologist to assist in treating skin acne. A dermatologist may choose to drain pimples and cysts as a part of the overall treatment plan during a visit. Often, doctors will also prescribe antibiotic medications or prescription-strength topical solutions that can target problem acne and assist in the skin's healing. People with severe acne should be advised, however, that many prescription medications commonly used to treat acne symptoms are also accompanied by serious side effects, such as birth defects and depression. Besides, women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should avoid certain medications that can be harmful to a developing fetus or infant.

In dangerous cases that cause scarring of acne , collagen injections and dermabrasion techniques have been known to somewhat cause the skin to look and feel smoother. Other treatment methods also include the use of laser resurfacing, which involves a burning away of unsightly scar tissue or chemabrasion, which removes scar tissue by using a chemical that peels away the top, scarred layers of skin.

High protein diets, diets that are high in zinc and diets supporting high amounts of chromium are also helpful in rebuilding the skin's surface at the cellular level to help minimize the appearance of acne scarring. Some have even reported positive results by using honey as a moisturizing agent to help scarred skin recover.

Other natural treatments for acne are also known to help people find relief from its symptoms without the risk of possible harmful side effects. A few of those suggested remedies include:

• Applying Aloe Vera gel to acne prone areas

• Masks made of plain yogurt

• Masks (from grated cucumber or oatmeal and milk)

A mask as natural acne treatment can be applied to clean skin and allowed to permeate the skin for at least half-hour per treatment, followed by a rinsing (cold water).

Also, people who are prone to acne should try supplementing their diets with vitamins, eg : vit. A, vit B and B6, vit C, vit E, Niacin and acidophilus culture and all which can support in rebalancing a people's body.

Whoever suffer from acne symptoms, often feel ashamed because of their skin's appearance. Acne is a treatable skin disease and one that can be controlled by making a key changes in lifestyle. While acne is not likely to disappear overnight, with proper cleansing, diligence, and maintenance, acne can be overcome. Not every treatment way works on every people's skin type. Therefore, it perhaps necessary to try a few different acne treatments before one is found to be just the right one treatment.
